Software Developer

You will be working in our office, located in Piscataway, NJ. This position is ideal for new or recent graduates with a few years of experience under their belt with a technical background who enjoy working in a cutting-edge environment. Our Developer team develops specifications for moderately complex software programming applications and modifies and/or maintains the existing software. As a software developer, you will collaborate and interface with a strong Agile/Scrum Development team during all phases of the Software Development Life Cycle, work hard, learn a lot, and have fun.

WHAT YOU GET TO DO: 

  • Design and code applications following specifications and using the appropriate tools
  • Maintain and modify existing applications 
  • Perform maintenance programming for existing versions
  • Perform customized programming at customer’s request
  • Assume responsibility for ongoing data architecture for product
  • Ensure the consistent accuracy and integrity of data and applications through analysis, coding, writing clear documentation, and problem resolution 
  • Keep technically current on each upgrade
  • Engage actively to stay plugged into software trends

WHAT YOU BRING TO THE ROLE:

Experience, Competencies and Education

  • Bachelor of Science in Computer Science, Mathematics or technically related field or equivalent related work experience (0-2 years) 
  • Previous brokerage industry experience and business knowledge highly desirable
  • Creative, self-starter with ability to work independently
  • Ability to effectively communicate technical concepts to other technical employees
  • Ability to interface well with non-technical employees 
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

Language Skills

  • Required: C# and C++
  • Desired: SQL, Oracle, and/or Microsoft Visual Studio

Application Support Analyst

You will be working in our office, located in Piscataway, NJ. As an Application Support Analyst, you will support external customers in their use of Shadow Financial Systems’ products, primarily ShadowSuite, to understand the customer’s business needs and improve customer satisfaction with ShadowSuite. As our support model is analytical in nature, not a traditional, scripted help desk or call center, you will engage creatively with both internal and external customers, work hard, learn a lot, and have fun.

WHAT YOU GET TO DO:

  • Customer-Facing: Provide all our customers with top notch assistance. Work directly with customers on core or unique issues that can include product administration, design, training and troubleshooting.
  • Technical and Product Expertise: Develop functional and technical expertise in all aspects of Shadow Financial Systems’ products, particularly ShadowSuite. Participate in training sessions and learning opportunities to ensure proficiency on products.
  • Problem-Solving: Resolve customer issues in a timely manner by performing research, local testing or by directing the customer to the applicable documentation in-house, which can include on-line help. Act as an escalation point for problem resolution. Coordinate referrals to appropriate technical, professional or service personnel for appropriate services, repairs, training and follow-up. Manage production issue list and monitor progress toward completing those items and providing weekly status updates to Manager.

ADDITIONAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Expands overall technical support capacity; improves efficiency and quality of service
  • May assist in the design, delivery, and improvement of in-house software applications and training programs
  • Will assist in various special projects as needed
  • Some Holidays are required

WHAT YOU BRING TO THE ROLE:
Experience, Competencies and Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business or Computer Science, or related field
  • A minimum of five years’ experience in the back office of a financial/brokerage firm
  • Knowledge of the financial industry/securities settlements is required
  • Previous experience working with vendors preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to develop rapport with all levels of customer (internal and external) and address their respective issues quickly and accurately
  • Strong organizational/time management skills required
  • Exceptional analytical and critical thinking skills
  • Highly developed soft skills including excellent oral, written and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work well independently
  • Strong leadership skills
  • Proficient in Excel
